Having a rubber mattress cover or under sheet is a good idea as well. This means if there is a mess you will not have to take the mattress completely out to clean it up. Without one of the handy dandys you will no doubt be doing a lot of mattress scrubbing.

The type of baby bedding you use depends on the time of year as well. Obviously for winter and the like you will have to think about nice warm and fuzzy coverings. In the summer time, nice light linen is what the doctor ordered. You want baby to stay covered as much as possible, but make sure that they can breath, so big people covers won’t really work that well.

Co-ordination is very important to some parents. It makes no sense to go through all the trouble of decorating your baby’s room only to find that you have the wrong blankets and sheets. One answer is to go with solid colors while another is to stick with one specific character or theme, but have different sets in different colors.

If you are dead set on making sure everything matches, make sure you family and friends are aware of this as well. In addition to letting them know about any character themes you might be looking at, mention the primary colors you will be using. This will save a whole lot of hurt feelings in the long run. Nothing is worse than when Aunt Millie buys some sheets that you will never use, and lord knows you do not want to have to listen to your mother when Millie notices that you have never used them.

So remember when thinking about baby bedding to think over functionality first then think about what you need as far as design goes and finish up by being prepared with extras. Realistically, baby honestly won’t care. But your friends will say things like “awww” a lot and that makes everyone happy. Buying baby bedding can be a journey, but it doesn’t have to be a long and hard one.
